Good Morning,

When did you last stop and really connect with someone? 🤝

Not send an email. Not react with a thumbs-up. Not say a passing “How are you?” while already moving on to the next thing.

Actually connect….?

This Mental Health Month, Footprints Community is asking Australians to do something very simple: Share a Moment.

☀️ A conversation. A cuppa. A walk. A laugh. A message to someone you haven’t heard from lately.  Because sometimes the smallest moment can help someone feel seen, included and a little less alone.  And right now, that matters.

Two in five Australians report experiencing loneliness each week. Loneliness and social isolation can affect anyone, and both are associated with poorer mental health and wellbeing.

Connection belongs at work too...

For many of us, work is where we spend a significant part of our week. Yet busy schedules, hybrid working, competing priorities and endless digital communication can mean we work alongside people without always finding time to genuinely connect.

So, as part of Share a Moment, Footprints has created a free 30-Day Workplace Connection Challenge.

There are no big events to organize and no complicated wellbeing program to roll out.

Instead, each day offers one small prompt:

·         Say hello first

·         Invite someone for a cuppa

·         Make the call instead of sending another message

·         Include the quiet voice in the conversation

·         Check in with someone you haven’t seen lately

·         Put your phone away and really listen

Thirty days. Thirty small opportunities to make connection part of the working day.  You don’t have to complete every challenge. You don’t have to do them perfectly.

💚 Just pick a moment and make it count. 💚

Footprints’ campaign page includes the workplace challenge, a general 30-day challenge, conversation starters, kindness cards and other free resources organisations can share with their people.

Why Footprints is talking about connection

For 35 years, Footprints Community has been walking alongside people experiencing challenges that can affect their independence, mental health, wellbeing and connection to community.

Today, Footprints supports people across Queensland through Mental Health & Wellbeing and Ageing Well services, but connection and belonging run through everything they do. 🥰

Sometimes that means providing professional mental health support.

Sometimes it means helping an older person remain connected to their community.

Sometimes it means simply ensuring someone knows they have somewhere and someone to turn to.

That is why Share a Moment is more than a Mental Health Month message. It reflects what we see every day: human connection matters.

Take the challenge. Then help create more special moments.

If your workplace is part of the GoodCompany community, there are two simple ways you can get involved this October.

1.      Bring Share a Moment to your workplace. Download the challenge, share it with your team and see what happens when everyone makes a little more room for connection.

2.      Support Footprints Community.  A donation through GoodCompany, including workplace giving and employer-matched giving where available, can help Footprints continue providing practical support to people experiencing mental health, wellbeing, ageing and social connection challenges in communities across Queensland.

🌱 GoodCompany enables employees to give through mechanisms including payroll giving, fundraising and matched donations.

Because while one conversation can make someone’s day a little easier, sustained community support helps organisations like Footprints be there when people need more.
