Chooseday 14th July - Choose to Hydrate 💧

Good Morning,

💧 Did you know? Your body is powered by water.

In fact, around 60% of your body is made up of water... so it’s no surprise that staying hydrated plays a big role in how you feel, think and perform each day.

From helping regulate your body temperature during all seasons, to supporting digestion, focus and overall wellbeing, water is one of the simplest ways to look after yourself.

The Australian Dietary Guidelines (National Health and Medical Research Council, 2024) recommend making water your drink of choice, while the Australian Institute of Sport (2023) highlights that staying hydrated supports concentration, physical performance and recovery.

Yet with back-to-back meetings, deadlines and busy schedules, drinking enough water is often the first healthy habit to slip. For many of us, a busy workday can mean forgetting one of the simplest ways to look after ourselves.

Not drinking enough water can contribute to feelings of tiredness, reduced focus and lower energy levels—making it harder to stay productive and feel our best.

💙 This Chooseday Challenge:Choose to drink 2 litres of water today!

Fill up your favourite reusable bottle or tall glass, keep it within reach and challenge a colleague to join you.

Whether you're at your desk, working from home or out and about, taking a few extra moments to hydrate is a simple choice that can support your wellbeing.

💧 Speaking of Water...

For many of us, turning on the tap is something we never have to think twice about. Clean, safe water is always within reach—but for millions of people around the world, access to water is still a daily challenge.

According to the World Health Organization and UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme (2023), 2.2 billion people globally still lack access to safely managed drinking water. Without reliable access to clean water, communities face increased risks of preventable disease, children can miss school, and families may spend hours each day collecting water instead of working or learning.

That’s where WaterAid Australia is working to create change.

WaterAid partners with communities around the world to improve access to safe water, decent toilets and good hygiene. These essentials help create healthier communities, support education, strengthen livelihoods and provide a foundation for people to overcome poverty.

For just $17 — about the cost of a glass of wine — you can help provide the gift of a water tap.

A tap is more than just hardware. It’s a turning point in the fight against disease... helping families access safe water for drinking, cooking and washing close to home. It means less time spent walking long distances to collect water, healthier communities and more opportunities for people to learn, work and thrive.

This Chooseday, after filling your own water bottle, consider helping someone else access something many of us take for granted.
