When we support local businesses, we help strengthen our communities, keep jobs local, reduce environmental impact through shorter supply chains, and invest back into the people and places that make our neighbourhoods feel like home.

And during National Volunteer Week (18–24 May), it’s a timely reminder that one of the most meaningful ways we can choose local is through the charities and causes we support with our time.

Across Australia, thousands of charities are quietly doing incredible work in our communities every day — supporting families in crisis, mentoring young people, protecting our environment, helping people experiencing homelessness, creating connection, and strengthening local communities. 💛

Many of them rely on volunteers to make it happen.

The good news?

Supporting local doesn’t have to mean a huge commitment — and volunteering can be easier (and more fun) than you think.
