Chooseday 26th August, Choose to Wear It Purple 💜

ree

Good Morning,

This ChooseDay, we choose more than a colour—we choose to stand shoulder to shoulder with LGBTQIA+ youth across Australia.

Wear It Purple Day, held on Friday 29 August 2025, began in 2010 when young people came together to combat bullying and mental health struggles faced by rainbow youth. What started as a grassroots campaign has grown into a nationwide movement of inclusion, visibility, and hope. 💜

Sadly, many LGBTQIA+ Australians continue to face discrimination:

  • 40% of LGBTQIA+ people in Australia have experienced non-inclusive behaviour at work.

  • 39% report harassment in their workplace.(Source: atWork Australia, 2023)

Behind these numbers are real people—colleagues, friends, and family members who deserve to feel safe, seen, and celebrated. 🌈

On Wear It Purple Day, every action—big or small—sends a message of allyship:

  • Wear purple: A simple but powerful symbol that says you belong.

  • Support charities: Donate, fundraise or volunteer with Wear It Purple or Minus18, both providing vital programs, education, and safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ youth.

  • Host a workplace event: From a morning tea to a panel discussion, spark conversations around inclusion.

  • Volunteer your time: Offer your skills or support to youth-led organisations making real change.

  • Learn and share: Allyship begins with awareness—read, listen, and talk openly.

Inclusive workplaces don’t just benefit LGBTQIA+ employees—they create stronger, safer, and more engaged teams for everyone. By celebrating Wear It Purple Day, we commit to building workplaces where every voice is heard, and every future shines bright. 🌈

Let’s make this ChooseDay count. Wear purple, support Wear It Purple, uplift Minus18, and show LGBTQIA+ young people across Australia that they are celebrated, respected, and loved.

With pride and purpose,

💜 The GoodCompany Team

Know someone who will benefit from a Chooseday mindset?
