Chooseday 28th July - Choose Kindness 💛

Good Morning,

Did you know that being kind is good for your health? 💛

Research from the University of Oxford has found that kindness benefits not only the person receiving it, but also the person giving it. Studies show that acts of kindness are associated with greater happiness, stronger social connection, improved wellbeing and a greater sense of purpose. Even small gestures can make a meaningful difference. [1]

In the middle of a busy work week, kindness doesn't have to be complicated. It could be checking in on a colleague, buying someone a coffee, volunteering your time, or supporting a cause that helps people doing it tough.

This message feels especially important during Homelessness Week (3–9 August). 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

More than 122,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness on any given night, and for many, the biggest challenge isn't just finding food or shelter—it's feeling invisible. A simple act of kindness can remind someone that they matter, while helping create a more connected, compassionate community. [2]

This Chooseday, choose one act of kindness that helps someone feel seen. 💛

✨ Check in on someone

☕ Shout a colleague a coffee

🤝 Organise a volunteer day with your team

💌 Support a cause making a difference

👂 Listen without judgement

At work, we often talk about creating a culture of kindness. Homelessness Week is an opportunity to extend that kindness beyond our workplace and into the wider community.

By supporting Dignity Australia, you're helping provide practical essentials like food, clothing and shelter, while also giving people the support they need to rebuild their lives with confidence and dignity.

Because everyone deserves more than just a roof over their head—they deserve the dignity of feeling safe, valued and supported. If you're looking for one simple act of kindness this Homelessness Week, supporting Dignity Australia is a meaningful place to start.

Looking for a meaningful and fun way to bring your team together?

Book a 2026 Cook4Dignity Volunteering Day and spend a morning cooking nutritious, home-style meals for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Your team will use fresh produce recovered by Dignity’s charity partners, including OzHarvest and SecondBite, to prepare meals that are portioned and distributed through community food relief freezers. 🥕🍲

These meals help ensure that individuals and families do not have to choose between feeding themselves and keeping a roof over their heads.

And the best part?

Thanks to Dignity Australia’s generous partners, there is no budget barrier for participating organisations.

Simply bring your team, roll up your sleeves and make a tangible difference together.

👥 Group size: 5–10 people

Experience: A purposeful morning of cooking, connection and impact

💰 Cost: No cost to participating organisations

Because kindness does not just improve someone else’s day — it can improve yours too. 💛

Happy Chooseday!
