Chooseday 30th September, Choose to Change the Future of Breast Cancer 💕

ree

Good Morning,

🌸 Breast cancer is more than a statistic—it’s a reality that touches mothers, daughters, sisters, partners, friends, and colleagues. Chances are, you know someone who has faced it.

A diagnosis brings fear and uncertainty, but also incredible courage and resilience. While treatments have come a long way, too many lives are still cut short.

That’s why this October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, is about more than wearing pink ribbons—it’s about driving the change that will save lives for generations to come. 🎗

Behind every number is a story—a woman starting treatment, a family waiting for answers, a community rallying together. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australian women, but it’s also an area where breakthroughs are transforming outcomes faster than ever before.

Each discovery has the power to rewrite tomorrow’s story, bringing hope where there was once only fear.

And yet, the challenge remains urgent. According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), approximately 21,194 new cases of breast cancer were estimated for 2024, with a similar number projected for 2025.

Every diagnosis ripples outward, affecting not just one person but families, workplaces, and communities. Progress is being made, but the need for answers has never been greater.

This is our moment to turn awareness into action and accelerate the discoveries that save lives. 🧬

This Breast Cancer Awareness month, we're proud to spotlight the incredible work of our charity partner, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. 🔬

Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australian women. With 1 in 7 women affected in their lifetime and over 20,000 new cases expected this year, research in this area has never been more important.

Garvan’s world-class researchers are working to unlock the complexities of breast cancer – from why some forms resist treatment or return after remission, to how it can be stopped from spreading. 💡

Your support helps fuel discoveries like:

🔬 Smarter treatments through immunotherapy

Garvan’s discoveries are revealing how breast cancers evade the immune system, helping researchers explore more precise, effective therapies.

🧬 Tailored treatments with genomics

Garvan’s pioneering work in genomics is helping personalise care, reducing side-effects and improving survival.

🔁 Predicting recurrence before it happens

Garvan researchers are developing early-warning tools to detect when breast cancer may return, informing the development of treatments which may prevent recurrence.
