Chooseday 26th May - Choose To Be All In For Reconciliation

Good Morning,

This week marks an important moment in Australia’s calendar.

💛 Tuesday 26 May is National Sorry Day: a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on the ongoing impacts of forced child removals on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It also marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) — a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in Australia.

Because reconciliation is not something that sits outside of us — it must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward together, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships.

We all have a role to play. And in playing our part — whether through learning, listening, advocacy, volunteering or meaningful workplace action — we help build communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and futures.

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme is “All In” — a reminder that reconciliation is not a spectator sport.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it cannot sit solely with First Nations peoples. All In is a call for workplaces, communities and individuals to step off the sidelines and commit to meaningful action — not just this week, but every day.

So this Chooseday, ask yourself:

What does being “All In” look like at work?

💬 Create conversations — Encourage learning through First Nations voices, podcasts, books, documentaries or guest speakers.

🤝 Show up — Attend a local National Reconciliation Week event or support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, artists and social enterprises.

📋 Commit as a workplace — Review your organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), procurement practices, volunteering opportunities and partnerships with First Nations-led organisations.

During National Reconciliation Week, Children’s Ground runs Wear It Yellow — an annual campaign encouraging schools, workplaces and community groups to come together, wear yellow and raise funds for a First Nations-led approach to systems change.

And if your workplace is looking for a hands-on way to get involved, your team can also support behind the scenes by helping pack Wear It Yellow merchandise orders for communities, schools and workplaces participating around Australia.

🟡 Volunteer with your team:

Or, if you’re able, support lasting change through a donation.

🖤 Support Children’s Ground:

This week, choose one action. Start one conversation. Learn one new perspective.

Because reconciliation won’t happen from the sidelines — it happens when we’re All In.

Happy Chooseday,
